Farshid Davoodi

Just a little while before the social media and the sweeping cyberspace transform our perception of recording our time and its passing, the pages of newspapers were witness to the history of this soil, telling the story of what its people went through. It is still possible to see the passing of time and what is called “history” by turning these pages whose issue number is reminiscent of lifetimes and the days past.

It’s as if what Farshid Davoodi creates brings forth the suffering caused by history and its passing. He cuts hundreds of newspaper pages in strips and binds them, selects photographs meticulously from his own archive and prints them on the paper canvas using silk-screen techniques, as a testimony to what this soil and its people have gone through all those years.
